Dr. Rui Quan Li, Ph.D.; OMD.; Professor; L.A c.
Dr. Rui Quan Li is one of the most highly regarded doctors in the field of Acupuncture and TCM with over 29 years of experience of teaching, researching and practicing in TCM, both in China and the United States. She has completed 10 years of full-time in-field study in China, a four years Bachelor of Medicine degree at Luzhou Medical College (1982) , a six year Master of Medicine degree (1990) and a Doctor of Medicine degree (1994) at Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, one of the top universities of TCM in the People’s Republic of China. Dr. Li was the first person in China ever to be awarded a Doctorate degree in TCM Ophthalmology.
After completing her doctorate, Dr. Li served as a vice professor of Chengdu University of TCM and also as a chief physician at its affiliated hospital. She has been actively involved in teaching, research, and clinical practice for over 15 years in China. She has been published widely and has presented at many national and international medical conferences. One of her research papers was awarded the Golden Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Distribution and Development of Integrated Medicine in the World by both the Ninth International Congress of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, and the Fourth International Congress of Integrative Medicine. In addition, she has published 26 research articles in various medical journals and three books on TCM topics. She has conducted and headed over 10 research projects, with 3 winning provincial awards.
Dr. Li came to the United States in 1997, since then she has become a faculty member, professor and clinic supervisor of Samra University of Oriental Medicine and Southern California University of Health Science in Los Angeles. Dr. Li has taught classes in traditional medical theory, acupuncture theory, acupuncture therapy and techniques, Chinese herbology and formulas, and TCM Ophthalmology.
Dr. Li has been a California State Licensed Acupuncturist since 1998. Dr. Li is a board member of the Academic Research Committee of Ph.D.’s of the Chinese Association of TCM and the Diabetes’ Special Academic Committee of the Sichuan Branch of the Chinese Association of TCM. She is also an official member of the Chinese Association of Integrated Medicine of TCM, and the California Acupuncture Medical Association.
